Osobno sam jutros oko 7 sati mjerio aršinom, kojeg sam kroz snijeg upro do zemlje; s jedna strana arišna je na inče gdje je pokazalo 5 i pol inča, dok na drugoj strani je pokazalo točno 14 centimetara. Ja sam u Austinu, Texas od rujna 1984. godine i ovo je po prvi puta da je toliki snijeg pao i da je tako vrlo hladno.

Personally, this morning at about 7 o’clock I measured with an ell, which I pointed through the snow to the ground; on one side of the ell are the inches where it showed 5 and a half inches, while on the other side it showed exactly 14 centimeters. I have been in Austin, Texas since September 1984 and this is the first time that so much snow has fallen and it is so very cold.

Personnellement, ce matin vers 7 heures j’ai mesuré avec un aune, que j’ai pointé à travers la neige vers le sol; d’un côté, d’aune est sur pouces où il a montré 5 pouces et demi, tandis que de l’autre côté il a montré exactement 14 centimètres. Je suis à Austin au Texas depuis septembre 1984 et c’est la première fois qu’il a tombe autant de neige et qu’il fait si froid.
