Le professeur demande au politicien s’il veut bien mener la discussion autour du mot « tragédie ».
Alors, là, Macron demande à la classe un exemple de « tragédie ».
Un petit garçon se lève et propose :
– Si mon meilleur ami, qui vit dans une ferme, était en train de jouer dans le champ et qu’un tracteur lui roule dessus et le tue, ce serait une tragédie.
– Non, dit Macron, ce serait un accident.
Une petite fille lève la main :
– Si un bus scolaire transportant 50 enfants tombait d’une falaise, et que tout le monde était tué à l’intérieur, ça serait une tragédie.
– Je crains que non, explique Macron, C’est ce qu’on appellerait une grande perte.
Le silence se fait dans la salle. Aucun autre enfant ne se porte volontaire. Le professeur cherche dans la salle.
– N’y a-t-il personne ici qui puisse me donner un exemple de tragédie ?
Finalement, au fond de la salle, Toto lève la main. D’une voix calme il dit :
– Si l’avion du gouvernement vous transportant était frappé par un tir de missile et était complètement désintégré, ça serait une tragédie.
– Formidable s’exclame Macron. C’est exact. Et peux-tu nous dire pourquoi ce serait une tragédie ?
– Eh bien, dit le garçon, il faut bien que ce soit une tragédie, car ce ne serait certainement pas une grande perte et probablement pas un accident non plus !

Profesor pita političara želi li voditi raspravu oko riječi “tragedija”.
Dakle, Macron traži od razreda jedan primjer “tragedije”.
Dječak ustaje i predlaže:
– Da se moj najbolji prijatelj, koji živi na farmi, igrao u polju i da ga je traktor prevrnuo i ubio, bila bi tragedija.
– Ne, rekao je Macron, to bi bila jedna nesreća.
Djevojčica podiže ruku:
– Kad bi školski autobus u kojem je bilo 50 djece pao s litice, a unutra su svi poginuli, bila bi to tragedija.
– Bojim se da ne, objašnjava Macron. To je ono što bismo nazvali velikim gubitkom.
U prostoriji vlada tišina. Nitko se od djece ne javlja. Profesor gleda po sobi.
– Zar ovdje nema nikoga tko bi mi mogao dati primjer tragedije?
Konačno, u dnu školske sobe, Toto podiže ruku. Mirnim je glasom rekao:
– Da je državni zrakoplov u kojem ste bili pogođen projektilima i potpuno se raspao, bila bi to tragedija.
– Divno uzvikuje Macron. Tako je. I možete li nam reći zašto bi to bila tragedija?
– Pa, rekao je dječak, to mora biti tragedija, jer to sigurno ne bi bio veliki gubitak, a vjerojatno ni nesreća!

– Great exclaims Macron. That’s right. And can you tell us why it would be a tragedy?
– Well, said the boy, it has to be a tragedy, because it certainly wouldn’t be a great loss and probably not an accident either!
