Dimanche 28 juin 1981.

Mile Boban) i još jedan tip.
Milan me pita bih li bila spremna doći ga vidjeti i već me razveselio sam njegov glas.
D’Amelio.” Ona preda mnom telefonira i g.
P.S. Zašto on to nije stavio u svoju glavu i otišao tamo gdje sam mu ja rekla”. Rekla sam mu “hvala” i poklopila slušalicu.

                                           Sunday, June 28, 1981.
Departure at 9:30 am because I had told the children to change their minds that we will have breakfast at Mac-Donald. Departure from Macdonald at 10:30 am because, despite what they say on television about the speed of service, it does not happen like that. We arrive at the Mess at 10:05 and obviously 3 people are in the parking lot, Branko Kujundžić, Jozo Majić’s brother (Ivan, my note, Mile Boban) and another guy. The three were speaking under a tree and as soon as I arrived they got into their car and left. They certainly thought that I wouldn’t have the courage to come to Mass after what happened with Milan. Mass is finished and when I am out with my children, a few people come up to me and tell me how sorry they are and if there is anything they can do they will. Here it will be necessary to add  that at that time there was a very great propaganda against the Croatian organization of OTPOR of which my husband Milan was the president for the northern continent.
I leave the children with Zdenka and Rafo at their request and go to San Francisco to see Milan. I arrive in San Francisco, Bryant street at 1h50, go up to the 7th floor and there again, like the day before, impossible to see Milan because, it seems that I arrived too late for the visits of that day. I’ve had enough to fight with them and my eyes full of tears again, I’m leaving.
The journey between Bryant street and Hacienda in San Mateo where Zdenka i Rafo lived passes again very quickly and, when I arrive at Zdenka and Rafo, they ask me if I saw Milan, how it happened etc. ..I burst into tears. After a few minutes, I calm down and explain to them what happened. Rafo telephones a friend of his who works in the police and this one calls back to tell him that according to the guards of Bryant Street, that I had arrived too late. So, no visit to Milan again today, but we will try to contact each other by phone call.
All afternoon I managed to wait for this phone call. We stayed for dinner at Zdenka who makes shish-kebabs. Finally the phone rings and Milan is on the line. We talk about trying to see him that day, what he does in person, the food he eats, and the hope of seeing each other the next day. Milan asks me if I would be ready to come see him and just hearing his voice irritates me. I am already very happy. We stayed about 25 minutes that evening and same like the night before, it cheers me up. After dinner, I go back home and call Milan Cvitanović to remind him to go to “Title Insurance” first thing the next day. Now we go to bed.
Monday, June 29, 1981
At 7:30 in the morning, I got in touch with Milan Cvitanović again, but he had already left and had left his “pager” at home. I phoned Don Norwold who was out of the office. This morning, I had to go get a piece of paper from Léon Galić. I left for about 30 minutes and during that time Milan Cvitanović was on the phone. I tried to catch him at his house at S.S.F. but it’s impossible to get it. Finally, around 10 am, I got in touch with Don Norwold who told me that he has been to “Title Insurance” and that the papers would be ready this afternoon. After the phone call, I went to get the estimate from Pierre Derouineau, the seller of the houses who did the paperwork very officially, in all 4 pages. Back home around 11 a.m., I go to Title insurance who tell me that the papers will be ready around 2:30 in the afternoon, but they are not sure if the papers they are preparing will be sufficient for the U.S. Court Clerk. I tell them, “Before doing anything, why don’t you call this Clerk, a Mr. D’Amelio”. In front of me, she telephones Mr. D’Amelio and tells him that what he wants is a “preliminary Title report”, and not what she was preparing. Another lost hope. Carole, employee of Title Insurance assures me that there will be no way to have the papers before the next morning. I tell her to try to have them at least at the end of the afternoon. She replies that it is not possible because the papers must be done in Redwood City and that they must do research in order to see if there are “liens” against our house, that is to say “privileges” in french language.
With all this it is already 2 o’clock in the afternoon and I have exhausted all means of obtaining these papers. I go home, get in touch with Milan Cvitanović who tells me that the next day at 8.30 am he will go with Don Norwold to pick up the papers in Redwood City in order to have them before 11 am.
All you have to do is wait for the phone call from Milan and explain to him all the steps. At least something was done, quiet as it was over the weekend. Around 5:30 Milan calls me and I explain my day to him and this time, we will definitely see each other the next day.
P.S. When I called Don in the morning, I had an argument over the phone because they (Milan Cvitanović and him) went to a different “Property Insurance” than the one I went to on Friday. I told him “I told Milan where to go. They already started with the paperwork. Why is it only in his head and he didn’t go where I told him”. He replied that he went to where we know him best and where we can help him the most. I said “thank you” and hung up. But 5 minutes later I called him to apologize for bothering him. He claims that he totally understood me and that he is not angry with me.
