KRONOLOGIJA JASENOVAČKOG LOGORA MAKSA LUBURIĆA 1941-1945

(S ovom kronologijom bi trebalo, iz povijestnih potreba i motiva usporediti knjigu Ilije Barbarića “NEZAVISNA DRŽAVA HRVATSKA BILO JE PRAVO IME”, Split 2910. Ilija Barbarić je rođen 1922. godine u okolici Širokog Brijega. Godine 1942 došao je u Sabirni Logor Jasenovac i tu radio kao zapisničar sve do konca logora kada je u travnju 1945, godine bio raspušten. On je živio u Sao Paulo, Brazil. Napisao je gore spomenuti knjigu u kojoj je iznio do sada još javnosti nepoznate dogodovštine. On tu iznosi kronološki ulazak i izlazak svih i svakog logoraša po datumu, mjesecu i godini. Interesantno je da on tu navodi da nije bilo više od dvije tisuće umrlih svih vrsta bolestiji. Kada bi se iz ove kronologije prebrojile smomenute žrtve, na znam dali bi prešlo brojku od dvije tisuće o kojoj brojki Ilija Barbarić govori. Otporaš.)

Kronologija jasenovačkog logora Maksa Luburića u 1941. i 1942. godini

– kolovoz 1941.

Prvi zatočenici dolaze u dvije barake pored sela Bročice, smještenog između Novske i Jasenovca. Sljedeća skupina dolazi u Krapje, nekoliko kilometara zapadno od Jasenovca. I tu su smješteni u dvije barake. Prema sjećanjima zatočenika iz tog vremena u Krapju i Bročicama bilo je ukupno oko 600 zatočenika (Jakob Danon u A. Miletić, Koncentracioni logor Jasenovac, III, str. 514.)

– rujan, listopad 1941.

Zatočenici rade na gradnji nasipa na rijeci Strug, zajedno s mještanima. Straža koja ih prati uglavnom se sastoji od ustaša iz Osijeka. Bili su to stariji ljudi i korektno su se ponašali prema zatvorenicima. Radovima rukovodi inženjer Franjo Beretin u ime Ravnateljstva melioracijskih radova. Počinje pretvaranje industrijskih pogona u Jasenovcu (ciglana, lančara…), vlasništvo obitelji Bačić, u logor. Postrojenja se ograđuju bodljikavom žicom. U Krapju izbija pobuna zbog slabe hrane. Dolazi Pokretni prijeki sud i osuđuje nekoliko desetaka zatočenika na smrt strijeljanjem. – studeni 1941.

Zatočenici se sele iz Krapja i Bročica u središnji logor koji dobiva ime Logor III Ciglana.
U Jasenovac dolaze predstavnici Židovske bogoštovne općine iz Osijeka Vlado Grünbaum i Andrija Ripp i s povjerenikom za logore Vjekoslavom Luburićem dogovaraju nabavu hrane za zatočenike. Postignut je dogovor: Židovska općina kupovat će hranu za zatočenike – kupus, grah, mast, tjesteninu, luk, papriku – a logorska uprava isplatit će im novac prema računima koje donesu. Grinbaum i Rip nabavili su za logor i 50 šivaćih mašina te odjeću i obuću. (HDA ZKRZ-GUZ, kut 10)
Zakonska odredba o upućivanju nepoćudnih osoba na boravak u sabirnim i radnim logorima, koja je predstavljala pravni temelj za zatočenje donosi se 25. studenog. Prijedloge za logor davale su redarstvene oblasti a potvrđivao Ured I Ustaške nadzorne službe. Mogle su se izreći kazne od 3 mjeseca do 3 godine boravka u logoru.

– prosinac 1941.

Radi održavanja discipline zapovjednik logora Luburić naredio strijeljanje 10 ustaša iz logorske posade koji su pljačkali u okolnim selima. Na njihovu grobu dao je izvjestiti napis: ovdje leži 10 ustaša koji su se ogriješili o ustaška pravila. Druga polovica lista bila je prazna, a na vrhu je pisalo: ovdje će doći oni koji će se ogriješiti o ustaška pravila. Nove straže kod tih su zapisa polagale prisegu da će se držati pravila. Zadnjih dana prosinca odmetnici (kasnije partizani) su pokušali napad na logor. Došli su u selo Gradinu, koje leži točno preko Save, i otvorili vatru na logor. Poginula su trojica ustaša i nekoliko logoraša. (HDA, Ministarstvo oružanih snaga, kut 1, izvješće br. 17)

– siječanj 1942.

Na Gradinu je 15. siječnja organiziran protunapad. Ustaše i domobrani forsirali su Savu i odbacili odmetnike i sve stanovnike Gradine, južnije prema Kozari. U toj akciji ustaški odred ušao je i u selo Draksenić (južno od Gradine) gdje su za osvetu poubijali dio zarobljenih stanovnika.
Intervencija nadbiskupa Stepinca za uvjete u kojima žive zatočenici te glasine koje su o njima kolale u Zagrebu, potaknula je uređivanje logora. Iz Njemačke je naručeno osam montažnih baraka. Šest je namijenjeno za boravak i spavanje (oko 200 u svakoj), a u dvije se organizira ambulanta i kuhinja s blagovaonicom. (biv. zatvorenik Vukašin Žegarac u Miletić, KLJ, I, str. 221)
Osim u barakama, logoraši spavaju i u prostorima niza radionica koje postoje u logoru. Tu je ciglana, zatim tvornica lanaca, po kojoj cijeli kompleks radionica nosi ime Lančara. U njoj su kovači, izrađivači lanaca, autolimari, automehaničari, bravari, precizni mehaničari. Nadalje električari, a radi i električna centrala na drvo. U logoru postoji i stolarija, mlin, pekara, mesnica s ledanom, ekonomija sa svinjcima i peradarnicom. Mala rafinerija nafte. U lančari je i tvornica oružja, odnosno, puškarnica. Kupljeni su rabljeni strojevi iz austrijske tvornice oružja Steyer. Serijski se na hidrauličkim prešama proizvode bajuneti, vojnički kreveti, i mnogo toga drugog. (biv. zatv. Poslove vode inženjeri, arhitekti, obrnici i tehničari raznih struka, većinom Židovi, koji tu rade u svojim predratnim strukama. U mjestu Jasenovcu osniva se radionica za štavljenje kože i proizvodnju obuće, poznata kao Kožara. Njezinih 140 zatočenika gotovo u istom sastavu, na čelu sa zatočenikom-upraviteljem Silvijem Alkalajem, radi cijeli rat. U veljači se u logor sličnog tipa pretvara i dotadašnja kaznionica u Staroj Gradiški. Dio zatočenika iz Jasenovca, osobito obrtnici, preseljavaju se u Gradišku. – veljača 1942.

U Jasenovac dolazi međunarodna komisija. Dočekuje ih uređeni logor, nove barake s pećima, uredna ambulanta, radionice. Prema izvještajima, većina logoraša su Židovi. Odmah nakon komisijskog pregleda u upravu se poziva 13 logoraša Srba koji se puštaju na slobodu i otpremaju u Srbiju. Uskoro počinje i otpremanje zatočenika na rad u Njemačku (A. Miletić, KJL, I, str. 207., 221., 239.)
U veljači je strijeljano 15 zatočenika zbog pokušaja bijega i napad na stražara. O strijeljanju je napravljen zapisnik. Smrt strijeljanih utvrdili su logorski liječnici. (HDA, ZIG-NDH, kut. 72)

– ožujak 1942.

Nakon topljenja snijega nastupaju velike poplave i Sava probija nasip. Dio logoraša je kamionima prevezen u Staru Gradišku dok se voda ne povuče. „Guske, patke, kokoši i purani razbježali su se iz ekonomije i kratko se vrijeme zadržavali na otočićima tog mora. Uspjeli smo ipak spasiti gotovo svu stoku“, opisao je Gjuro Schwartz. (HDA, ZKRZ, mikrofilm Z-2942)
Nakon poplave pojavljuju se tifus i druge bolesti. Prema sjećanju Josefa Konfortija, liječnika iz Travnika, na 30 stranica knjige Sjećanja Jevreja na logor Jasenovac iz 1970 godine, poduzete u temeljite mjere za suzbijanje epidemije tifusa. Po Konfortijevu prijedlogu nabavljeni su dezinfekcijski uređaji, naređeno šišanje svih (i zatočenika i ustaša) na nulu, redovito tuširanje i kupanje u toploj i hladnoj vodi. Epidemija je suzbijena i u tako velikom obliku više se nije pojavila, rekao je Konforti.
Logoraše pred upravom logora predstavljao logornik, a pojedine radne skupine vode grupnici. Prvi logornik bio je Bruno Diamantstein. U proljeće izbija tzv. zlatna afera. Diamanstein i nekoliko drugih zatočenika iz unutarnje uprave optuženi su da su izvan logora krijumčarili stvari koje su se oduzimale zatočenicima na ulazu u logor. Radili su to u dogovoru s ustašama iz uprave. Zbog toga su strijeljani Diamantstein i njegovi suradnici ali i ustaša Ljubo Matković, brat tadašnjeg upravitelja logora Ivice Matkovića. – travanj 1942.

Zatočenici dobivaju mogućnost komuniciranja sa svojom rodbinom i prijateljima putem dopisnica. Imali su pravo na pakete s hranom i odjećom. Židovska zajednica slala je u logor 600 paketa tjedno svojim članovima, ili oko 50.000 komada za trajajanja cijelog rata. (HDA ZKRZ-GUZ, kut. 10)
Hrana od kuće poboljšavala je jednoličnu logorsku prehranu. U logoru su bila redovita tri obroka, a katkad su se dobivali i gableci u obliku kruha s nekim namazom. Za doručak je bio čaj ili kava s kruhom, za ručak kukuruzna kaša (pura, žganci), grah, govedska juha, juha od kupusa i slično. Slično je bilo i za večeru. Zatočenici su imali bonove za obroke na temelju koji su dobivali hranu. Redari u barakama mogli bi kazniti oduzimanjem bonova one koji nisu ujutro složili svoj krevet na vojnički način ili su radili neki drugi nered. (biv. zatv. Hinko Singer u HDA ZKRZ-GUZ, kut. 9)
U noći između 3. i 4. travnja partizani se prebacuju preko Save iz sela Orahova, s desne obale, u Jablanac, udaljen nekoliko kilometara nizvodno od Jasenovca. Ustaška ophodnja koja je čamcima pokušala doći u Jablanac nije uspjela, a putem nije mogla zbog poplave. Partizani čamcima sele preko rijeke svih 350 stanovnika Jablanca, njihovih 200 svinja i mnogo pokretne imovine. Nakon toga partizani i seljani spaljuju svoje selo, uključujući i pravoslavnu crkvu. Nekoliko katoličkih obitelji preselilo se u susjednu Mlaku. (HDA, Izvješća Glavnog stožera, kut. 1)
Zatim je 14. travnja uslijedio i partizanski napad i na ustašku posadu u Mlaki. Poginula su tri ustaše, a 14 ih je ranjeno. U protunapadu partizani su odbačeni, a selo zauzeto. Stanovnici Mlake su riječnim putem preseljeni u logore Jasenovac i Staru Gradišku. Odatle žene odlaze na rad u Njemačku, a muškarci se otpremaju prvo u logor Sajmište u Zemun, a potom na rad u Njemačku i Norvešku. (A. Buljan i F. – svibanj 1942.

Partizani su pokušali još nekoliko napada na Jasenovac. Napad 17. travnja trajao je od 4 do 6 sati ujutro. Napad je odbijen. Sljedeći je zabilježen 5. svibnja. Oko 23.30 doplovilo je čamcima rijekom Unom dvadesetak partizana. Kod Gradine su napali ustašku stražu. Idući dan, opet u gluho doba noći, uslijedilo je novo puškaranje. «Na ustaške straže pucalo je i pučanstvo grkoistočne vjere, kojom prilikom je jedan ustaša pao. Zbog tog slučaja dao je zapovjednik sabirnog logora sve grkoistočnjake internirati u sabirni logor“, stoji u službenom izvještaju. Stanovnici Jasenovca prebačeni u Zemun, odatle neki u Srbiju, drugi u Njemačku. (HDA, Izvješća Glavnog stožera, 16. svibnja 1942.)
Partizani su s bosanske strane u svibnju 1942. izveli jedan pravi gusarski napad čamcima na šlep koji je plovio iz Jasenovca u Gradišku. „Borci su gađali posadu koja je opalila oko 10 metaka. Borci su sjeli u čamac i požurili prema šlepu i bacili bombu u motor. Ustaški satnik pucao je iz pištolja dok nije ubijen. Pronađena su dva civila u šlepu. Od neprijateljske posade jedan se spasio skakanjem u Savu i plivanjem. U šlepu je zaplijenjen jedan puškomitraljez, 5 karabina, 2 pištolja, 400 metaka, 2 ustaške uniforme, 100 metara kukuruza, 30 metara sijena, kovački alat, nekoliko stotina metara žice, razni lonci i 300 litara nafte. Borci su motor izvadili i prazan šlep potopili. (Zbornik dokumenata o Naroodnooslobodilačkom ratu, tom IV/5, Vojnoistorijski institut JA, Beograd, str. 151)
Židovska općina iz Osijeka i epidemiološki odsjeka Ministarstva zdravstva dogovarali su nabavu dezinfekcijskog aparata. ŽBO iz Osijeka kupila je 4. svibnja 1942. mikroskop za laboratorij jasenovačke logorske bolnice. Stajao je 6000 kuna (HDA, UNS, kut. 6)
U svibnju je ustaški odred krenuo u proboj ceste prema Bosanskoj Dubici na koju su se spustili partizani. Uz ustaše kao sanitet idu logorski liječnici Josef Konforti, Igor Gasparini i Marin Jurčev. Angažirao ih je osobno Vjekoslav Luburić. Dan prije akcije, koja se dogodila 25. svibnja, Konforti i drugi liječnici su za desetak vojnika, «deset dječaka u ustaškim uniformama», održali kratki tečaj previjanja i podvezivanja rana. Na smotri prije polaska u proboj bio je i šef UNS-a Eugen Dido Kvaternik koji je Gaspariniju i Jurčevu, kao Hrvatima, poručio da imaju priliku «okajati grijehe i stupiti u redove domoljuba». Igor Gasparini poginuo je tog dana, pored ceste za Dubicu, pomažući ranjenim ustašama. Marin Jurčev nakon akcije stupa u ustaške redove i postaje šef bolnice koja se gradi u mjestu Jasenovcu.

– lipanj 1942.

U logor se dovodi i skupina od nekoliko stotina Roma. Smješteni su prvo u logoru, gdje zabavljaju ostale zatočenike i ustaške stražare predstavama s cirkuskim medvjedima i majmunima. Zatim ih preseljavaju u selo Ušticu. (biv. zatv. Ante Miletić, HDA, UNS, kut. 1)

– srpanj 1942.

Započinje izgradnja logorskog zida, visokog oko tri metra. Za gradnju je trebalo oko 3,1 milijun cigli, za što se moralo iskopati 12.500 tona gline. (N. Mataušić, Jasenovac-fotomonografija, 2008)
Kroz logor prolaze zarobljenici s Kozare, oko 9000 muškaraca i 23.000 žena. To je i najveći broj Srba koji prolazi kroz logor. Muškarci odlaze u Njemačku, vlakom do Zemuna a onda brodom do Beča i na sjever, neki sve do Norveške. Žene i djeca šalju se na poljske radove po Slavoniji. Znatan broj žena ide u Njemačku, a oko 12.000 djece ostaje na brigu NDH. Država ih zbrinjava u dječjim domovima i prihvatilištima (Sisak, Jastrebarsko, Zagreb) te u obiteljima. Pomažu Karitas, Crveni križ, časne sestre i drugi crkveni redovi… Glavni organizator zbrinjavanja je Kamilo Bresler iz Odsjeka za skrb obitelji Ministarstva udružbe NDH (D. Budisavljević, Dnevnik, 2004; Ć. Petešić, Dječji dom Jastrebarsko, 1990)

– kolovoz 1942.

Osniva se logorski orkestar. Vodi ga Natko Devčić, do zatočenja profesor na Muzičkoj akademiji. Orkestar pod Devčićevim ravnanjem svirao je himnu na povremenim svečanostima, a na Božić te godine izvodio je skladbe Händela, Beethovena i Franje Vilhara. (M. – rujan 1942.

Radovi logorskih radionica izloženi su na izložbi na Zagrebačkom zboru (velesajmu). Izloženi su oružje, drveni i kožni proizvodi, umjetnički radovi, prehrambeni proizvodi (med, džemovi i slično) (A. Ciliga, Svjedok najvećih laži, 2001, str. 202)
U logoru počinje raditi obrtnička škola za dječake. Teorijske i praktične predmete predaju im zatočeni majstori i učitelji. Dječaci od 9 do 13 godina učili su za automehaničare, električare, brijače i druga obrtnička zanimanja, sve do travnja 1945. (biv. učenik Zvonko Pajur, u Glas Koncila, 31/2014; T. Erjavec, Španovica, 1992., str 144.)

– listopad 1942.

Slučaj sela Crkveni Bok, udaljenog 12 kilometara zapadno od Jasenovca. Motivirani sumnjom da stanovnici (Srbi-pravoslavci koji su 1941. prevedeni na katoličanstvo) surađuju s partizanima, ustaše iz Jasenovca upadaju u selo, i stanovnike odvode u logor. Na intervenciju seoskog župnika Augustina Kralja i drugih dužnosnika, koja je stigla sve do Pavelića i ministara u Vladi NDH (spominje je u svom dnevniku Mladen Lorković), seljani su uskoro pušteni kućama. Iz logorske blagajne isplaćena im je odšteta za uništenu i ukradenu imovinu. (F. Škiljan, Akcija Crkveni Bok, 2005; A. Miletić, KJL, I, str. 500)
Tijekom godine u logor su zatvorena i četvorica katoličkih svećenika Slovenaca i jedan Poljak. Riječ je o svećenicima iz Slovenije koje su Nijemci protjerali u NDH. Živjeli su većinom u Hrvatskom zagorju. U logor su dovedeni zbog suradnje s partizanima. Neki umiru od bolesti, neke su po svemu sudeći strijeljali za odmazdu. Preživio je svećenik Anton Rantaša. Zbog slučaja svećenika i akcije Crkveni Bok poduzete su disciplinske mjere prema Vjekoslavu Luburiću. U logor je poslana nova istražna komisija, na čelu s visokim dužnosnikom Vlade NDH Aleksandrom Seitzom i Ivom Bogdanom, šefom Glavnog ravnateljstva za promidžbu. Na inzistiranje njemačkih predstavnika Luburić je suspendiran i maknut iz povjereništva za logore. Interniran je u mjesto Šumec kraj Lepoglave. Umjesto njega povjerenik za logore u Ministarstvu unutarnjih poslova postaje Stanko Šarac. Iz Jasenovca odlazi i Ljubo Miloš, koji je zbog akcije u Crkvenom Boku uhićen i pritvoren u Zagrebu, na Savskoj cesti. Luburić utjecaj na logor ponovo dobiva u travnju 1944., a Ljubo Miloš će se u Jasenovac vratiti tek u travnju 1945. (A. Rantaša, Jasenovac, Nova pot, II, 1950, str. 121-127 i 158-164)

– prosinac 1942.

Za Božić u logoru je služena svečana misa. Predvodio ju je svećenik Zvonimir Brekalo koji od tada ostaje stalno u logoru kao dušobrižnik. Obrede za islamske zatočenike obavljao dvaput mjesečno Tahir Vojniković, imam iz Kozarca. (biv. zatv. Jakob Danon u HDA ZKRZ, kut 67)

Kronologija jasenovačkog logora Maksa Luburića u 1943. godini

– siječanj 1943.

Nakon odlaska Natka Devčića iz logora, ravnanje zatočeničkim orkestrom preuzima Erih Samlaić. Glazbeno-kazališna sekcija postojala je i u kožari, radnoj jedinici koja se nalazila izvan logora, u mjestu Jasenovcu. Erwin Miller u knjizi «Izabran za umiranje» (Zagreb, 2004.), piše kako je s kolegama uvježbao nekoliko glazbeno-scenskih prizora. Izvodili su ih prvo pred stražom pa pred mještanima Jasenovca i na kraju pred zatočenicima u glavnom logoru. Miller piše da su izvodili dijelove operete «Grofica Marica», dijelove Shakespearova «Sna ljetne noći», a zatočenik Arnold Basch pjevao je Ave Mariju. (E. Miller, Izabran za umiranje, 2004)

– veljača 1943.

Zatočenici održavaju vezu s partizanskim skupinama u okolici logora. Za to je bio zadužen veterinar Ivo Drežančić, član komunističke skupine na Veterinarskom fakultetu u Zagrebu. Rad Drežančića i pomagača (Zorko Golub, Ekrem Maglajlić i drugi) otkrivena je u prvom dijelu 1942. Nakon internacije u Jasenovcu, Drežančić i drugovi nastavili su se baviti svojom strukom na logorskoj ekonomiji. Drežančić je obilazio vanjska logorska imanja i farme, kontaktirajući s partizanima. Napad na logor izvana trebao je biti koordiniran s unutrašnjom pobunom. Prema izjavi Miloša Carevića, zatočenika koji je nešto kasnije pobjegao iz logora, do planiranog ustanka nije došlo jer je „obustavljen izvana“. (S. Odić, S. – ožujak 1943.

Logor dobiva novog upravitelja, Ivicu Brkljačića, koji zamjenjuje Ivicu Matkovića. Dolaskom Brkljačića razvio se sportski i kulturno-zabavni život zatočenika. Uz redovne kazališne predstave i koncerte, mogli su se logoraši za slobodnog vremena nakon rada baviti i sportom, nogometom i odbojkom. Odigravalo se nogometno prvenstvo logora. Svaka radna grupa imala je svoju ekipu. Igračima su sašiveni dresovi, postolari su napravili kopačke, a prije finala igrači su bili oslobođeni rada da bi mogli trenirati. (M. – travanj 1943.

Proljeće donosi novu sezonu bjegova. Miloš Carević, Simo Vidović i Vujo Vorkapić, zaposleni u postolarskoj radionici, izašli su iz logora zaprežnim kolima po drva za logorsku pekaru. Kad su se udaljili iz logora, ubili su ustašu koji ih je pratio i pobjegli na Psunj. Zapovjednik Brkljačić zaprijetio je snažnijim odmazdama ponove li se takvi slučajevi. Neko vrijeme zatočenici su na vanjski rad izlazili okovani lancima, ali se od toga brzo odustalo zbog nepraktičnosti. Brkljačić je 1945. pred istražiteljima OZN-e tvrdio da je zbog korektnog odnosa prema zatočenicima dobio mnogo pisama zahvale onih koji su u međuvremenu pušteni kućama. (HDA, ZKRZ, kut. 264)

– lipanj 1943.

Zatočenici su priredili operetu za koju su sami napisali libreto i glazbu. Opereta u dva čina zvala se «Raj na oceanu». Zatočenik Riffer je odlazeći u listopadu 1943. kući iz logora sa sobom ponio i «programski listić» te operete. Bio je ilustriran crtežom pustog otoka s palmom, na kojem muškarac i žena bijelim maramicama mašu brodu koji plovi u daljini. Autor ilustracije je vjerojatno slikar Walter Kraus, koji se i potpisao na listić. Libreto su napisali Ivo Wollner (harmonikaš u orkestru) i Erih Samlaić. Glazbu je skladao Josef Kende, kojeg su zvali Švabo, jer je bio iz Beča. U tehničkoj crtaonici bio je i pijanino na kojem je Kende uvečer zabavljao korisnike crtaonice, uglavnom inženjere, arhitekte i druge tehničke stručnjake koji su ondje izrađivali nacrte i planove za radove u logoru i oko njega. Na pijaninu je Kende pripremao i partiture za logorski orkestar. (M. Riffer, Jasenovac 1943, str. 126 i 200)

– srpanj 1943.

Nada zatočenika da su partizani krenuli u osvajanje logora rasplamsala se 16. srpnja 1943., kad se zapodjenuo vatreni okršaj između 17. slavonske brigade i ustaške posade kod sela Krapja, udaljenog pet kilometara od Jasenovca. Partizanska postrojba se prebacivala preko Save u pravcu Banije. Lokalna ustaška posada ih je primijetila, počelo je puškaranje, a u pomoć su pristigli i ustaše iz Jasenovca. U bici je poginulo 19 ustaša, tri mještanina Krapja i 16 partizana, većinom Čeha i Slovaka, pripadnika čehoslovačkog bataljuna Jan Žiška, koji se tada nalazio u sastavu 17. slavonske brigade. (A. – kolovoz 1943.

U ljeto 1943. u Jasenovac na poljske radove šalju se i žene, zatočenice iz Stare Gradiške. Smještene su u dvije barake, u žicom, kanalom i živicom odvojenom, istočnom dijelu logora. Zatočenik Riffer napisao je da je logorski orkestar za žene održao koncert, a one su s druge strane plesale. «Orkestar je svirao najbolje stvari iz repertoara, a pjevači su se natjecali u interpretaciji talijanskih i madžarskih romansi i tužnih međimurskih napjeva. Vokalni trio pjevao je uz pratnju orkestra plesne šlagere», zapisao je Riffer. Zatočenice su skelom preko Save prebacivane na desnu obalu gdje su radile na poljima logorske ekonomije. „Brale smo kukuruz, krumpir, paradajz, bundeve, skupljali sijeno… U ustaškim magacinima krao se grah, ponekad salama i slanina. Sve se to na zajedničkom sastanku ekonoma dijelilo na jednake dijelove za svaku grupu“ ispričala je poslije rata bivša zatočenica Nada Salamon. Na poslu se dobivao i «gablec»: tanke kriške kruha s komadićem slanine, pekmeza ili sličnog namaza.

– rujan 1943.

Zatočenice su slobodno vrijeme koristile i za učenje vještina koje će im pomoći u borbi kad izađu iz logora. Nada Salomon prisjetila se nakon rata kako su zarobljene partizanke drugim, neiskusnim zatočenicama, pokazivale kako se ponašaju odredi u napadu i obrani, kako se hvata zaklon pred neprijateljskom vatrom i slično. Održavala se veza s muškim dijelom logora te razmjenjivale novine, Vjesnik, Naprijed i druge partizanske publikacije.
Bolnicu u Jasenovcu vodili su partizanski simpatizeri Marin Jurčev i Ivan Belužić. Jurčev je prvo bio logoraš, a onda je prešao u ustaše. Iz bolnice je partizanima slao sanitetski materijal. Jurčev i Belužić su u rujnu 1943. preko svojih veza koordinirali akciju u kojoj su partizani sa šumskog rada odveli dvadesetak logoraša, poubijavši ustaše koji su ih pratili kao stražari. Akciju je potaknuo logoraš Moric Montiljo, bivši partizan zarobljen na Romaniji. (Sećanja Jevreja…, 1970; Nada Salomon, Mladost u zatvorima, 1984, str. 352)

– listopad 1943.

Pobunu planira i komunistička organizacija u logoru Stara Gradiška. U to vrijeme, prema izvještaju njihovih članova, u Staroj Gradiški je 1232 Hrvata, 96 pravoslavaca i 180 Židova u muškom logoru te 413 Hrvatica i 348 pravoslavki i Židovki u ženskom logoru. Fabijan Rukavina, sekretar komunističke grupe u Staroj Gradiški opisao je kako su prikupljali oružje (pištolje i puške) i skrivali ga u logoru. S partizanima su komunicirali i preko razmijenjenih logoraša. Štefica Serdar otišla je 4. listopada iz logora u zamjenu sa zadatkom da logor poveže s psunjskim odredom. „Javljala se par puta, odgovorili smo, ali trajna veza nije ostvarena. Svi pobjegli nisu ništa učinili“, zaključio je poslije rata CK KPH u jednom od osvrta na Drugi svjetski rat.

– studeni 1943.

U Jajcu je održano Drugo zasjedanje AVNOJ-a. Zatočenici u Jasenovcu i Staroj Gradiški saznali su za to (navodno preko članaka u Hrvatskom narodu, glavnom dnevnom listu NDH). Zatim su sudionicima zasjedanja poslali pismo podrške s potpisom „zatočenici ustaških logora“. Poruka je stigla do sudionika zasjedanja, što je potvrdio i „drug Moša Pijade“. (S. Odić, S. – prosinac 1043.

Napadajući Banju Luku i Bosansku Gradišku partizani su se približili logoru u Staroj Gradiški. Postojali su i planovi da se pritiskom partizana sa slavonske strane napadne i Stara Gradiška. Zbog dolaska njemačkih pojačanja i dodatnih snaga hrvatske vojske, planovi nisu realizirani. Približavanje i jačanje partizanskih snaga dovest će kasnije, u listopadu 1944., do odluke da se zatočenici logora Stara Gradiška većinom presele u Lepoglavu, a manjim dijelom u Jasenovac. (S. Kronologija jasenovačkog logora Maksa Luburića u 1944. godini

– siječanj, veljača 1944.

Nastavlja se mirno razdoblje s uobičajenim radnim aktivnostima zatočenika. Radovi se obavljaju i na okolnim ekonomijama. Svaki dan izvan logora odlazi od 300 do 700 zatočenika ovisno o sezonskim radovima. Iz Jasenovca se upravljalo ekonomijom koja se prostirala oko sela Mlaka, a polja i voćnjaci obrađivali su se i s bosanske strane u Gradini, Međeđi, Podgradcima. U Bosanskoj Dubici bio je centar za proizvodnju kreča. U Hrvatskom državnom arhivu čuvaju se dnevnici radova iz 1944. godine. U njima je bilježeno vrijeme odlaska i povratka pojedine skupine, broj stražara koji ih prati i ime njihova zapovjednika. Na vanjski rad išli su svinjari, pčelari, volari, mljekari, bačvari, osoblje ribarice (ribarskog broda), građevinari koji prave bunkere… Neki se upućuju na stalni rad u Dubicu, Krapje, Prkos. Ostali se u istom brojnom stanju uvečer vraćaju u logor. (Hrvatski državni arhiv, ZKRZ-Zh, kutija 231)

– ožujak 1944.

U 1944. godini nastavljaju se obavljati razmjene s partizanima, u demilitariziranoj zoni kod Pisarovine. S partizanske strane vodi ih Josip Brnčić, koji je, prema nekim izvorima, također bio zatočenik Stare Gradiške u 1942. godini. Brnčić u ožujku izvještava CK KPH da logorske uprave drže partizanske zarobljenike u lošim uvjetima ne bi li ih potaknuli da idu na rad u Njemačku. „Čim se netko javi za rad odmah se postupak prema njemu mijenja. Transporte zarobljenika šalju u Njemačku vrlo često. Mnogi drugovi pa čak i oficiri i komandati javljaju se na rad u Njemačku da se izbave loših uslova“, navodi Brnčić. Kaže da je osobno išao u zagrebački zatvor na Savskoj cesti i nagovarao skupinu partizana na razmjenu. Od 15 jedva ih se javilo četiri, „iako su sigurno znali da sam partizan“. (A. – travanj 1944.

Povodom 10. travnja, dana osnutka Nezavisne Države Hrvatske, iz Jasenovca i Stare Gradiške pušta se 289 zatočenika. Popis koji se čuva u Hrvatskom povijesnom muzeju nije pisan abecednim redom, nego počinje imenom Marije Mikac, a završava s Ivanom Sestrićem. Pored svakog imena su podaci o roditeljima, datumu i mjestu rođenja te vjeroispovjesti. Pušteni su većinom katolici, a ima i pravoslavnih i muslimana.
U travnju su iz Jasenovca zajedno na motoru pobjegli židovski zatočenik i ustaša koji ga je čuvao. Pobjegli su k partizanima na Papuk. Ustaša se zvao Viktor Štefančić, imao je 18 godina, a bio je iz sela Španovica nedaleko Pakraca. Partizani su ga po kratkom postupku strijeljali, proglasivši ga špijunom. Nije pomoglo što se pobjegli logoraš založio za njega. U logoru je nakon toga za kaznu strijeljan i Viktorov 21-godišnji brat Franjo, također pripadnik ustaške straže. Bilo je to 13. travnja 1944. (T. Erjavec, Španovica, 1992, str. 145)

– svibanj 1944.

Zatočenici iz komunističke grupe, i u Jasenovcu i u Staroj Gradiški, planiraju pobunu i bijeg iz logora. Komunistička organizacija u Jasenovcu imala je skriven sanduk bombi. Napravljen je raspored borbenih grupa. U logoru su trebali likvidirati 30 ustaških časnika i vojnika te napasti bunkere oko logora i u Gradini na desnoj obali Save (prema svjedočenju Ljube Vranješa, zarobljenog partizana).

– lipanj 1944.

Nakon neuspjelog bijega harmonikaša logorskog orkestra Ive Wollnera, strijeljano je 19 zatočenika, dijelom članova logorskog orkestra.

– srpanj 1944.

Povodom rođendana Ante Pavelića, 14. srpnja, iz logora su puštena 172 zatočenika. Popis počinje Dušanom Adamovićem iz Beočina. Završava s Antom Zofkićem iz Vukovara. Uz generalije zatočenika kod mnogih je dodano i njihovo zanimanje. Adamović je prije uhićenja bio tvornički radnik, a Zofkić – gostioničar. (A. Miletić, KJL, I, str. 383)
U logor dolazi inspekcija Međunarodnog odbora Crvenog križa, koju vodi izaslanik Julius Schmidlin. Viđeno u Jasenovcu i Staroj Gradiški na komisiju je ostavilo relativno dobar dojam. U okviru posjeta, Schmidlin je nazočio i uprizorenju Nušićeve komedije „Gospođa ministarka“, u izvedbi logorskog kazališta u Staroj Gradiški. (M. Kevo, Veze MOCK i NDH, 2009, str. 393)

– kolovoz 1944.

Komunistički odbor u logoru čeka znak za napad. U tom slučaju, „200 drugova i drugarica spremno je da na dani znak, izvrši zadatak. Ova brigada kadra je sutra makar i golih ruku započeti borbu na život i smrt. U stanju smo da skačemo i na žicu i bunkere i započemo borbu sa zločincima, makar i bez nade u uspjeh“, pišu u tajnom pismu partizanima. Logorski komunisti priznaju da njihov entuzijazam ne dijele svi zatočenici. „Nasuprot borcima stoji jedan dio zatočenika koji bi vjerojatno ostao pasivan. To je izvjestan broj Židova-satelista, nešto četnika pravoslavaca i izvjestan broj katolika kriminalaca“, ocjenjuje se u pismu.
Logoraši predlažu da ustanak počne zajedno s partizanskim zračnim napadom, da se bombardiranjem sruši dio logorskog zida, a logorašima baci dodatno oružje. Pišu da bi najbolji trenutak napad bio nedjelja ili praznik prije podne u 10 sati, jer je tada vojska u crkvi. Drugo dobro vrijeme je 19 sati uvečer, kad su svi zatočenici u logoru nakon povratka s vanjskih radova. (HDA, mikrofilm D-2377, dok. 30)

– rujan 1944.

Priprema bijega je otkrivena. Provedna je istraga, organizirano suđenje i na smrt vješanjem osuđeno 20 vođa potencijalne pobune. Presuda je izvršena 20. i 21. rujna. Od zavjerenika jedino je liječnik Milo Bošković strijeljan, jer je tako dogovorio s Vjekoslavom Luburićem. U razgovorima do tog slučaja njih su dvojica razvili određeni prijateljski odnos pa je Bošković mogao birati oblik kazne. Na suđenju 1999. godine u Zagrebu, Dinko Šakić, jedan od upravitelja logora, ponudio je i verziju po kojoj je kazna zavjerenicima određena i zbog pronevjere, odnosno, sakrivanja paketa koji su izvana slani zatočenicima. – listopad 1944.

S radom praktično prestaje logor u Staroj Gradiški. Njegovi zatočenici sele se dijelom u Lepoglavu, a dijelom u Jasenovac. Nekoliko dana prije selidbe, iz Stare Gradiške brodićem je pobjegao Emerik Blum, poslije rata gradonačelnik Sarajeva.

– studeni 1944.

O povećanoj potrebi za radnom snagom u to vrijeme pisao je bivši zatočenik Čedomil Huber (Bio sam zatočenik logora Jasenovac, 1977): „Nova električna centrala gutala je veće količine drveta, ali je sigurnije davala struju za pojedine pogone. Produktivnost je bila vrlo niska. U tom pogledu logorska organizacija je činila što je više mogla da se kapaciteti ne povećavaju, da se proizvodi što manje i da norme radnog učinka budu smanjene.“

– prosinac 1944.

Nova skupina zatočenika izlazi prije vremena na slobodu. Popis ima 373 imena, a nastao je 24. prosinca 1944. Zatočenici se puštaju povodom „četvrtog Božića Nezavisne Države Hrvatske“. Odluku potpisuje Erih Lisak, glavni ravnatelj GLAVSIGUR-a. Popis koji se čuva u Hrvatskom državnom arhivu (fond 223 MUP NDH, kutija 301), počinje imenom Ivana Antolčića, a završava s Matijom Žufićem.

– siječanj 1945.

Potkraj 1944. nova skupina jasenovačkih logoraša preseljena je Lepoglavu. Nastavljaju se i razmjene jasenovačkih zatvorenika za zarobljenike koje drže partizani. Ivan Dominec je 9. prosinca odveden iz Jasenovca u Zagreb, u zatvor na Savskoj cesti. Nekoliko dana prije kraja rata upravitelj zatvora predložio je zatvorenicima da se priključe ustaškoj vojsci i brane Hrvatsku. Oni su to odbili – i svjedeno potom bili pušteni na slobodu. (HDA, ZKRZ, kut. 220)

– veljača 1945.

Posljednja inspekcija jasenovačkog logora obavljena je u veljači 1945. godine. Izaslanstvo je vodio ministar unutarnjih poslova Mate Frković. U pratnji su bili filmski i foto snimatelji, zabilježivši obilazak električne centrale i drugih logorskih pogona i radionica. Ministrov posjet bio je dio priprema za odlazak velikog broja zatočenika na rad u Njemačku. Iz logora ih tada odlazi više stotina i logor ostaje znatno ispražnjen. (HDA, ZKRZ-Zh, kut. 211; N. Mataušić, KL, str. 51)

– ožujak 1945.

Nakon što je logor gotovo ispražnjen, uslijedilo je snažno zračno bombardiranje. U seriji zračnih napada u danima prije i poslije Uskrsa, američki i engleski zrakoplovi i manje partizanske letjelice, pogodili su gotovo sve zgrade u logoru. Srušene su i mnoge kuće u Jasenovcu. Najjači napad bio je na Veliki petak, 30. ožujka 1945. Pogođena je zgrada zapovjedništva i brojni tvornički objekti. Poginulo je pedesetak zatočenika. Među njima i neki koji su se trebali uputiti kući jer su pomilovani u povodu 10. travnja. (Č. Huber, Bio sam zatočenik…, 1977, str. 69; HDA, ZKRZ, kut. 218)

– travanj 1945.

Preostali zatočenici, još uvijek neutvrđena broja, krenuli su u proboj 22. travnja prema istočnom izlazu iz logora. „Organizirali smo taj prepad da pobjegnemo iz logora i da se pridružimo oslobodilačkoj vojsci koja se nalazila kod Nove Gradiške“, rekao je Ivan Kulaš istražiteljima ZKRZ-a. Prema više izvora, zatvorenici su trebali biti preseljeni u Sisak. Neke skupine su već i odvedene, među njima Mato Idžojtić. Iz sisačkog logora „staklana“ pušten je na slobodu.
